Infection Prevention and Control

Reducing infection risks and protecting people from harm

Our commitment to infection prevention

Care2Care works to minimise infection risks for Service Users and staff. We use risk assessments, effective controls, training, suitable equipment and safe working practices to prevent and manage infection.

Everyday precautions

Staff must follow standard infection-control precautions at all times. Care2Care provides guidance and support on:
• effective hand hygiene;
• the correct selection, use and disposal of personal protective equipment; and
• safe working practices that reduce the risk of transmission.

Resistant organisms and antimicrobial resistance

We recognise the risks associated with multidrug-resistant organisms and antimicrobial resistance. Consistent infection-prevention measures help reduce transmission and protect Service Users, staff and visitors.

Leadership, monitoring and learning

The source policy identifies Jill Smith as the Infection Prevention Lead. The role includes:
• overseeing infection-prevention arrangements;
• auditing practice and cleanliness standards;
• monitoring the availability and use of personal protective equipment;
• supporting learning and improvement; and
• helping staff and Service Users understand infection-control measures.
